The best gift I ever received was a red Atlas cycle. My father gave it to me when I was 12. I can still see the moment they arrived. He and his friend balanced the bicycle on the back of their bike. They wanted to keep it a surprise. It’s a core memory for me. While many parts of childhood fade away, the joy of that surprise stays with me. I think about it often. It’s a moment I’ll never forget.
